The Irish Thoroughbred Industry has thrown its full weight behind the upcoming CECF Wuhan with world class auction house, Goffs, and the nation’s highly successful promotional arm, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, joining a growing list of local and international sponsors.

Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing are collaborating in take up a feature race sponsorship at the CECF Wuhan, an event regarded as the most prestigious race day in China. Their involvement continues the strong Irish participation in this event that dates back to its inception in 2013 when a contingent of Irish bred and trainer runners competed in the inaugural CECF Hohhot.

“The China Horse Club has very quickly established itself as a major player on the international stage and Goffs are delighted to support their endeavours to grow interest in the thoroughbred in China,” said Henry Beeby, Group Chief Executive.

“I first met Teo Ah Khing in 2012 and was immediately struck by his energy and vision for the future so we are enthused by his plans for CECF Wuhan. It was wonderful to welcome the China Horse Club to our Orby Sale last year; Michael Wallace bought some beautiful individuals and nothing would give us more pleasure than to see them win a really big race in the future.”

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing CEO, Charles O’Neill, was equally ebullient about the growing in the 2015 CECF Wuhan.

“As Asia’s premier and most prestigious horse racing club, China Horse Club is fostering tremendous interest in international horse racing in the Chinese market, providing the ideal gateway into this exciting sport for their members, with various events at home and abroad, which also provide the ideal opportunity for members to socialise with like-minded business people from all over the world,” said Charles O’Neill, CEO of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.

“The China Horse Club’s policy of investing in top-class bloodstock in the global marketplace, also gives their members the rare chance to own racehorses from some of the world’s best bloodlines, competing internationally at the highest level and putting China to the forefront on the world bloodstock stage.”

“ITM is delighted to be partnering with Asia’s premier horse racing club, for China’s highest profile horse racing event, the China Equine Cultural Festival (CECF), at Wuhan. It is a great honour for ITM to be associated with such a prestigious and well organised event and to be in the company of other leading Irish companies such as GOFFS and COOLMORE, as well as premier global brands such as LONGINES. This collaboration is also a great opportunity for ITM to further promote the importance of Ireland and the Irish thoroughbred in China - Ireland is Europe’s largest producer of thoroughbreds and horses bred in Ireland go on to race all over the world, with incredible success, including in China and Hong Kong”.

Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing will sponsor the RMB100,000Goffs Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup (1200m) which will attract runners from leading stables across China.

“It is tremendously rewarding to have the support of both Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing in 2015,” said Eden Harrington, Vice President and Head (Partnerships/Membership).

“These two organisations are leaders in their respective field and it means a great deal to the industry in China that they see the value in investing in the CECF and building relationships between China and Ireland.”
